Bigfoot Encounters Is that Hairy Character near The Barn Bigfoot? Logan County, Ohio |
June 26, 1980 -- Russells Point, Ohio (UPI) - He's about 8 feet tall, has hair all over his body, smells worse than "limburger cheese on a hot muffler" and has a footprint 16 inches long. It could be a bear, Ray Quay tells himself, but in the back of his mind he wonders nervously if it's Bigfoot. Like a number of others in the southern Ohio area of Logan County, Quay, thinks he spied Bigfoot recently. "I've seen a lot of things," said Quay, a golf course greenskeeper and part-time police officer for Russell's Point. "But I've never seen anything like that. It was big and hairy and it scared the heck out of me and my dogs." Quay said he spotted the creature near the barn of his six- acre home. "I don't know, maybe its a man. But the odor about the thing was tremendous. It smelled like limburger cheese on a hot muffler." Over the years, there have been numerous Bigfoot sightings in rural Ohio, but no proof has surfaced confirming such a creature exists. Quay said researchers from the Mammal Research Center in Lima visited his farm this week, however, and substantiated his story. Authorities in nearby Union County also report recent sightings of Bigfoot, described as 7 feet to 8 feet tall, with long hair over its body and a footprint 16 inches long and about 7 inches wide. "In my mind, I say it's a bear because it makes other people around here feel better," Quay said. "In the back of my mind I say, 'No, that was no bear.'"
